In this lesson I use John Coltrane's "Giant Steps" and "Countdown" as substitutions on Blues, Rhythm Changes and Miles Mode ( a modal tune in B minor). There is lots of transcribed material in tab and notation as well as a discussion on how to use this idea in other situations. This is one of the ways to get that "outside" sound you have been looking for.
