Barry,
New student here. I'm self taught but can follow most of your lectures with a fairly good understanding. I've started your stepping stones series and have begun filling in the gaping holes in my knowledge.
Question: I've noticed that you almost always transfer the pick and temporarily hold it between 1st and 2nd finger knuckle when plucking the stings, but in other (earlier?) videos you sometimes pluck with the pick and the three "bottom" fingers together. I'm better at the latter technique. Would you recommend I re-train to the first technique? Advantages/disadvantages?
Enjoying the coursework,
Bill
Welcome Bill, thanks for joining!
It actually is in the crook of the knuckle of my second finger. It's something I started doing many years ago. The second technique you mention was used by Joe Pass as well as other guitarists. All have different sounds and advantages/disadvantages. Unless you feel like you're not able to accomplish something that could be improved by mastering both techniques, I wouldn't worry about it. Best of luck and thanks again. -barry
