My 2 cents:
Tune Based - These lessons are primarily how to approach chord/scale and reharmonization
Chord Melody - These are basically "performance" ready solo guitar
It would be a lot to ask for every lesson to include a thorough breakdown AND a chord melody. Hopefully, the material covered in the lesson, along with the melody that you can pick up from a book (or transcribe), will give you many possibilities to create your own chord melody. It may lack the sophistication of Barry's, but over time it will evolve.
However, I like the idea of ending each "Tune Based" lesson with a solo performance that includes the melody, solo, melody, ending. I think most of the lessons have that.
I think Barry's challenge is trying to strike a balance between those of us who want the more in depth reharmonization, and others who want to play primarily solo chord melody. Personally, I don't spend much time on the Chord Melody lessons, but that's just me.
