I have become obsessed with how primitive my line phrasing is. I do not think you have specifically covered this topic, although you have certainly touched on it more than once. If you have any ideas on how one might accelerate progress in this area I would be appreciative. I realize this is an enigmatic topic and could fall in the realm of “unteachable”.

Hi Jim!
Try this: Improvise over a II V I progresion starting your phrase on the beat 1. Do that until you feel confortable. Then play on the upbeat (or the "and") of the beat until it feels good and musical. Then do the same on beat 2, 3, 4 of every bar.
Also, transcribe a lot and learn licks and patterns from Barry's videos.

I know it's been said many times but the only way I was able to develop phrasing was to play solos along with the masters. Even when I didn't have my guitar, I would sing the solos in my head until the phrasing was second nature. I never had success with Norlando's method, for me it had to be intensive listening and playing with the recordings.
