I was wondering if there is a possibility of a lesson dealing with the harmony of Bill Frisell or Paul Desmond. There seems to be little content out there for getting into what these guys are doing and how they create the beautiful harmony that they do. Thanks!
I really like a lot of the West Coast Jazz guys. Chet Baker, Paul Desmond, Art Pepper, Stan Getz and Kenton etc. It's a lot easier to transcribe one of their solos than a Coltrane or Parker at a zillion notes a second. I feel like they never got the respect they deserved and it was the "smooth" jazz of the time. Maybe the jazz snobs of the time felt it was too commercial, though easier on the ears than Ornette Coleman or Eric Dolphy etc.
Yeah I agree.. You can so hear what Chet Baker has been through when he plays. Bill Frisell has been one of my favorites for a long time.. He's so connected to his instrument and says so much with so little!
