The melody poses unique challenges for guitarists, as Parker’s saxophone-specific phrasing and embellishments don’t always translate directly to the fretboard. I discuss practical ways to adapt the head for guitar while staying true to its rhythmic and melodic character.
The second half of the lesson focuses on developing authentic bebop language using a straightforward yet powerful concept: the diminished chord derived from the harmonic minor scale. This approach opens the door to rich, flowing lines that capture the essence of the bebop sound.
